Do You Want A Home Pool?

When it comes to planning a home pool, there are several elements involved, including size and materials.  Luckily, there are a few simple tips you can follow so that you can plan and design a pool that your family and friends will love.

Know Your Purpose

When it comes to planning and designing a home pool, you first need to figure out how you will use the structure.  Do you want to use it for relaxation purposes or use it as a space to host events at your home? Do you want to swim laps in your pool so that you can exercise regularly?  If you want to create a space for your family to relax, then you should look into investing in a heated spa, which can be attached to your pool. Also consider a pool house, fire pit, outdoor kitchen when planning for your pool.  This will extend your entertaining and living footprint of your house.

Location and Shape

An important factor to consider when designing a pool is the location and shape of the structure.  Depending on the size of your property, you might only have a few options to choose from for where to place your pool.  If you have excess square-footage to work with, then you want to choose a location that will allow you to access your pool easily.  The location of your pool might influence the shape of the structure. The only limitations you will have are your imagination, location and budget.

Focus On Materials

When planning your pool design, you need to take time choosing materials for your feature.  You need to choose a material for the base of the structure. Many home pools are constructed out of concrete, but fiberglass is gaining popularity among homeowners.  You can choose from fiberglass or ceramic for the tiles that will layer on the floor and sides of your pool. Particularly on the east coast Gunite is used as the base because of the weather.  Make sure you are working with a reputable company because this is a very large investment. Fiberglass pools do not have the longevity of a concrete pool; you may need to replace the liner every 7-10 years which can be very costly.
