3 Summer Lawn Care Tips

Spring Cleaning Tasks for Your Landscape

Learn how to take care of your lawn during the summer.

Summer is officially here which mean it will be getting hotter and hotter outside.  The summer heat can be detrimental to your landscape, so it is important that you know how to care for it.  The last thing you want is for grass to die in small patches throughout your lawn.  Luckily, there are a few simple tips you can follow so that you have a healthy lawn this summer.

Know How To Mow

One of the most important aspects of caring for your lawn during the summer is mowing, but you need to be aware of how much grass you are cutting.  During the summer, you should leave the blades of your lawn mower on the highest setting. It is beneficial to have tall blades of grass during the summer so that you are giving the soil some shade and allowing it to retain as much moisture as possible.  Having tall grass also prevent weeds from growing on your lawn.

Water Properly

When it comes to caring for your lawn during the summer, you need to know how to water it properly.  It is important you give your lawn at least one inch of water on a weekly basis and make sure to not over water it.  Soaking your lawn with water can cause it to become infertile, killing the grass. Make sure that you are water your lawn early in the morning before the Sun is blaring, so your grass has time to soak up the moisture.

Be Kind To Your Lawn

It is important to be kind to your lawn during the summer especially if you are experiencing a drought.  If you are experiencing excessive heat or a dry season, make sure to avoid walking on your grass to avoid turf crowns.  It is important that you avoid driving or parking on your lawn to prevent excessive and serious damage.
